Never. Let. Go.

Dear Guy Smiley,

One part of me can't wait until you're of an age to make conversation - right now you love to talk about "Car! Car! That car! Red car! Yellow car! Look car!" but I reckon once you start slinging sentences together, you're going to be a right Well of Infinite Wisdom.

Mainly on the subject of cars I guess.

But the other part of me just isn't ready for you to grow past this age yet, because right now you're my little buddy who still reaches out a cherub hand for help down the steps, and I don't want to ever have to let you go.

  1. I'm with you on this. My little girl just turned 2 a few days ago and I've been in serious denial. Fortunately her need for independence isn't as great as her need for cuddles and hand holding from me.

  2. My youngest turned 2 last month. 3rd child, all boys. And I tell you, boys are just born knowing what cars are, I swear!

But yeah, they reach talking age and for a couple of years they dont shut up (like my 4yo)... then they reach school age, and as time goes on, they get quieter and quieter. Then one day, its all one word answers. "how was school?" "good". great.. lol. Oh, unless they are in a chatty mood which is undoubtedly when you arent. EG you are watchign a movie "oh mum, remember when *insert inane thing here* happened?" ... "yes dear, it happened 2 seconds ago on the movie". And over. and over.

    Kids aye? ;)
